She heads into her room, pulls off her sweater and starts looking for something else to wear, and then Manny knocks on the door in full costume. This leaves very little time for Manny to finish watching TV, find out why Ruby was so keen to change and get into his own outfit.

I thought long and hard about that comic, about whether it fit into the overall story and how it impacted on the general integrity of the universe. And I realised I was weighing up comedy against continuity, a throwaway gag (if one I was fond of) against the rigid rules of storytelling.

And I figured, what the hell, it's not like the big proper comics never hand-waved a continuity problem by assuming events happen between panels. So. Handy-wavy, timey-wimey. There.
